  • 15 April: The Spring / Summer season opens with the world premiere of Alan Ayckbourn's Time Of My Life.
  • 10 June: World premiere of Neville's Island by Tom Firth; this is a rare example of a non-Ayckbourn play which originated at the theatre and went into the West End. The play memorably opens with the sodden characters swimming & wading onto stage.
  • July: The first Teen Ticket promotion is launched - in conjunction with McCain Foods - in which teenagers can get theatre tickets for just £2.
  • 13 July: Monday lunchtime concerts in the studio are revived for a year with a folk flavour with the Knife, Folk & Spoon gigs featuring visiting artists.
  • 17 July: Jazz comes to the Studio on Friday lunchtimes for a year with Square Cat Jazz featuring visiting artists.
  • 23 July: The Foundation For Sport And The Arts announces a £500,000 grant towards the new theatre fund-raising appeal.
  • 14 October: The Autumn / Winter season opens with Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party.
  • December: BBC Radio 4 records the Christmas edition of its popular programme Poetry Please! with Scarborough actress Elizabeth Kelly.
